Inmates escape minimum security prison

Police are looking for two men who disappeared from Mill Creek Correctional Facility in Salem.

Staff discovered inmates Daryl Manuel Hernandez and Franco Armando Moreno missing at about 10 p.m. Thursday.

Mill Creek is a minimum-security prison five miles southeast of Salem that provides education and work opportunities for adults in custody.

Hernandez, age 34, was serving a sentence for delivering marijuana and child neglect out of Marion County.

Moreno, age 25, was convicted for multiple counts of stealing vehicles, also in Marion County.

Police describe Hernandez as Hispanic, 5'10" tall, 165 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes. Moreno is also Hispanic, 5'6" tall, 140 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Both inmates were last seen wearing blue jeans with the word "inmate" and the orange-red Department of Corrections logo, DOC, stenciled on the knee. They also had blue T-shirts on, with the word "inmate" and the DOC logo stenciled in orange on the front and back.

Anyone with information regarding their whereabouts is asked to call Oregon State Police at 1-800-452-7888.
