PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Portland police arrested a man who they said became upset when a cocktail party ended and stabbed two people over the weekend.

James Spencer Hill Jr. and the victims were at a small party at a home in the 1400 block of Southeast Division St. on Saturday morning.

Once the party was over, Hill became upset, and police said he stabbed 28-year-old Jesse Bettis and 30-year-old Joshua Jackson, then rode away on a bicycle.

Officers and a K-9 searched the Ladd's Addition area around 5 a.m., but they never found Hill.

Five hours later, however, officers spotted Hill riding his bike on the Eastbank Esplanade.

Hill rode away northbound, jumped off his bike, climbed a fence and ran across Interstate 5 before officers arrested him at Southeast Morrison Street and Water Avenue.

Police took Hill to the Multnomah County Jail, where he was booked on two counts of second-degree assault, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon and two counts of second-degree criminal mischief.

Jackson and Bettis survived the stabbing, but are still recovering from their injuries.
