Worker killed in forklift accident involving 1,500-pound press

A 27-year-old man was killed in a forklift accident at a Crook County business.

Deputies were called out to Fontana Wood Products on Northwest Lamonta Road in Prineville Wednesday.

Deputies discovered Joshua Ketchem, of Redmond, dead at the scene.

Investigators said he was working under a large, metal press that was supported by a forklift. The press weighed around 1,500 pounds and fell on top of Ketchem, pinning him to the ground.

Ketchem was working alone at the time of the accident, according to deputies.

Fontana employees found Ketchem and emergency crews tried to revive him, but it was too late.

The investigation is continuing, but no foul play is suspected.
