Five people in car hospitalized after serious Vancouver crash

VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -

Five people were hurt in a T-bone style crash in Vancouver Monday morning.

Initial reports indicated four people in a small car were on a break from work and driving near West Fourth Plain Boulevard and Thompson Avenue around 4:10 a.m.

Later Monday, police said it was actually five people, all young men in their late teens or early 20s.

They realized they had forgotten something, according to investigators, so they tried to turn left back onto Fourth Plain to return to their previous location.

A Vancouver police spokesman said it appeared the group didn't see a pickup truck heading their way, and it slammed into the car.

All five people in the car were taken to the hospital. The driver of the car and a passenger in the backseat suffered the most serious injuries, police said. Their conditions were not available Monday afternoon.

The driver of the truck was not transported to the hospital.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but police said it doesn't appear speed or intoxication were factors.
