Fire investigators said a woman killed in a Sandy mobile home fire had been smoking a cigarette in bed.
Firefighters were called out to the Barlow Trail Mobile Home Park, 35440 S.E. Highway 211, at 2:30 p.m. Friday. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke billowing out of the home.
Firefighters searched the home and found an unconscious woman. She was later identified as Connie Rodgers, 51.
CPR and all attempts to revive Rodgers were unsuccessful.
A dog and cat survived the fire, however, another cat was killed and a third one was unaccounted for.
On Monday, fire investigators determined the cause of the fire was carelessness with a cigarette and smoking while in bed. The origin of the fire was determined to be the bed's headboard, according to the Sandy Fire District.
