Tiny House Hotel opens in northeast Portland

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

There's a tiny new place to stay for out-of-towners in Portland.

The first-of-its-kind Tiny House Hotel in northeast Portland opened in the Alberta arts district Saturday.

Three tiny houses, ranging in size from 100 to 200 square feet, are currently available to rent, and the owners said they're hoping to have up to six houses available in the future. Nightly rates are $125 per night plus tax.

Two of the homes sleep one to four people and the third sleeps one to two people. Each home has a bathroom with a toilet, a shower, electric heat and a kitchen.

The owners said Portlanders have been very receptive to the tiny house project.

"We knew it would take off, but it's kind of exploded quickly and we're really excited," said co-creator Deb Delman.

Delman said the hotel is getting booked through the summer.

"We're a little bit overwhelmed, but in a really good way," she said.
