VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -

A new high school is ready for a grand opening in Vancouver.

The Henrietta Lacks Health and Bioscience High School is designed to give students a jump-start on careers in health care.

Students will be able to take classes ranging from pharmacy to nursing.

Abbie Troffer said she wants to go to the school because she plans to go into sports medicine or pediatrics.

"It was important to me because I want to have a good star in my medical career," Troffer said. "You get some college credit that you wouldn't get at any other high school and so I'm excited to be able to start."

Students will also have the chance to learn outside the classroom.

They can intern at Peace Health Southwest Medical Center during their junior and senior years.

The Evergreen School District will hold a grand opening for the school on Thursday.

Tours of the school, located at 9105 NE Ninth Street in Vancouver, start at 3:30 p.m. with an official ribbon cutting scheduled at 4 p.m.
