SANDY, OR (KPTV) -

An 800-gallon aquarium stopped a fire from doing even more damage to a Sandy home.

Firefighters were called out to the scene of a reported explosion, on Rachael Drive at 2:49 p.m.

Investigators said the fire started in a shed attached to the home. Once it spread inside, a large aquarium shattered, and the water poured out.

Firefighters said all that water essentially knocked down the fire.

Investigators said a considerable amount of damage was done to the home. An estimate was not immediately available. It's also not known how many animals in the aquarium were killed.

The cause of the explosion is under investigation. There are no reports of injuries, as one person and a dog got out safely.
