A Portland State University student denies any wrongdoing after being arrested and accused of trying to fondle a classmate in a campus building.

Police said a female student reported a man trying to pull her into the women's bathroom while attempting to grab her chest in the Extended Studies Building just before noon Monday.

She reported the incident immediately and officers arrested Akrem Elrajoubi, 21. The alleged victim later picked him out of a lineup of photographs, according to investigators.

Elrajoubi posted bail Monday night and spoke to a FOX 12 crew Tuesday.

"She lies," he said. "She's a liar."

Elrajoubi said the woman is in his class and they were chatting in the hall during a break. He said after that, her story is not true.

"Nothing wrong happened, actually," he said. "I don't know why she did this, she went to the campus security at PSU."

This situation is the fifth alleged attack on a female student at PSU since January. Police said this is the first one involving fellow students.

"Usually, it's external people in the city that come onto campus because we're right in the middle of a beautiful park and anyone is welcome," said Rachelle Burgess, a PSU student. "I've never heard of it being a student-on-student crime. That seems really uncommon."

Other students said these allegations concern them, but Elrajoubi said he is not a threat.

"We went back together to the class and I thought it was normal, but we will see what will happen," he said.

Elrajoubi was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on the charge of attempted first-degree sex abuse. His arraignment was postponed Tuesday because he asked for an interpreter.
