Two 13-year-old girls on a Wilsonville sidewalk were hit by an SUV Wednesday.
Police said the crash happened at 2:30 p.m. near the intersection of Southwest Wilsonville Road and Memorial Drive.
Investigators said a Jeep, driven by Tyler Joos, 19, of Wilsonville, veered off the road, went across the sidewalk and hit the girls.
One of the girls was flown to Oregon Health & Science University, while the other was taken in an ambulance.
"We're all praying for them," said Sonya Justice, a registered nurse who stopped to help the injured girls. "We stopped on the corner and even prayed with the kid that had hit them. He was hysterical."
OHSU said both girls were in critical condition Wednesday evening. The hospital said their parents have requested privacy and asked that their names not to released.
Wilsonville police and Clackamas County deputies are working to determine what caused the vehicle to veer off the road. Investigators said Joos remained at the scene and is cooperating.
