The Marion County Sheriff's Office is investigating a case of sex abuse involving a 35-year-old woman and an 11-year-old boy.
Deputies said that Sarah Beth Hopkins, 35 of Salem was arrested on multiple counts of sex abuse and rape.
The mother of the victim contacted officials on Sunday morning to report the abuse. Now, investigators believe there could be more victims.
Detectives said the mother reported that Hopkins used to live next door to them and that she had developed a close relationship with her son. The mother said she did become suspicious of the relationship.
Officials say the victim told his mom that he and Hopkins had been sexually active for the past eight months.
Detectives say the victim's mother confronted Hopkins, who admitted to having sex with the boy since February of this year. She said it occurred in her apartment and occasionally in public places when they went on walks together.
Investigators say when she was interviewed by police, she told them she never threatened the victim or gave him anything in return for sex.
Hopkins' Facebook page includes some suggestive photos of herself, along with links to a few different teen websites.
Hopkins made her first court appearance Monday and was arraigned on 20 counts of rape and sodomy. The judge set her bail at $1 million. She is due back in court Aug. 20.
Anyone with information about Hopkins is encouraged to contact the Marion County Sheriff's Office at 503.588.5094 or you can email Bovchinnikov@co.marion.or.us.
