PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Surveillance cameras captured clear and close-up images of a man robbing a northeast Portland bank.

It happened at 3:40 p.m. Wednesday at the Columbia Bank branch, 10735 NE Halsey St.

Bank employees told officers that the man showed a handgun and demanded money. He ran away into the neighborhood with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Officers conducted an extensive search of the area, but did not find anyone matching his description. However, police did locate a few bills believed to be from the bank robbery in the yard of a nearby home.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 50s, standing 5'9" tall and 200 pounds. He has dark hair and was wearing a dark baseball cap, glasses, a black T-shirt with a colorful design on the front and tan shorts.

Surveillance video showed him repeatedly licking his lips and even smiling at one point during the robbery.

If you recognize him, call detectives at 503-823-0403 or the Portland FBI office at 503-224-4181.
