Police: Convicted sex offender’s dog bit officer

Posted: Updated:
PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Police arrested a convicted sex offender after they say his dog bit an officer in downtown Portland.

It happened Friday morning, as officers were waking up campers sleeping in Terry Schrunk Plaza.

Police say an officer stepped into the street to take a picture of the campsite when Daniel Thompson's dog lunged at her and bit her on the arm.

After that, we're told Thompson started yelling at police.

He faces charges of resisting arrest and interfering with a police officer.

The officer who was bitten by the dog is expected to be just fine.

No word yet on what will happen to the dog.
