Hillsboro man arrested after firing 'warning shot'

Posted: Updated:
HILLSBORO, OR (KPTV) -

A Hillsboro man is in jail after he called 911 to report someone trying to break into his workplace.

Police say Mauricio Garcia was working at Acme towing on SW Wood Street at about 4:30 this morning when he says he saw someone peering inside.

He called police and told dispatch he heard five to six people trying to break in, so he fired a "warning shot."

Police say they didn't see any evidence of someone trying to break in when they arrived, so they arrested Garcia for unlawful use of a weapon.

He's currently under an immigration hold and will be arraigned Wednesday. No one was hurt.
