A talking bird was taken from outside a home on East Burnside Tuesday.

The victims reported to police that their 5-year-old male derbyan named Josey was stolen between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The bird was in a cage outside the home on the 15100 block of East Burnside St., between the house and a garage.

Josey is described as having a gray body and head, with black over its eyes and below its bright orange beak. Its back and wings are green.

Josey is nearly 14" tall and weighs about 8 ounces. The bird can also speak a few words.

Portland police released photos of Josey and its cage in hopes someone will spot them. Anyone with information on this case should call the non-emergency line at 503-823-3333 or email CrimeTips@PortlandOregon.gov and reference case number 13-69771.
