PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The case against a Portland State University student accused of trying to fondle a classmate in a campus building has been dismissed.

Police arrested Akrem Elrajoubi, 21, on Aug. 5 on charges of attempted first-degree sex abuse. A female student reported to police that a man tried to pull her into the women's bathroom while attempting to grab her chest that afternoon.

The alleged victim picked Elrajoubi out of a lineup of photographs.

Elrajoubi told Fox 12 after his arrest, "She lies. She's a liar."

"Nothing wrong happened, actually," he said. "I don't know why she did this, she went to the campus security at PSU."

Elrajoubi said the woman was in his class and they were chatting in the hall during a break. He said anything she claimed after that was not true.

The district attorney's office dismissed the case prior to a preliminary court hearing scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.

The only reason given at this point from the district attorney is that the case was "unable to proceed."
