Police: Man meant to drive motor home into tavern

Posted: Updated:

Customers inside the Timber Tavern were rattled at about 2 a.m. Saturday when an RV slammed into the front entrance.

Fortunately, nobody inside the bar at the time was hurt.

A spokesman for the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office says the driver of the motor home suffered wounds to his arm, but otherwise he was up and walking around.

The Timber Tavern, at 28052 Southeast Highway 212 had just closed for the night, when the crash occurred.

Boring Fire and Rescue personnel, as well as officers from the Sandy Police Department, arrived to assist in the investigation.

Police determined that the driver intentionally crashed the RV into the tavern, but it's unclear why he did it.

The driver, who has not been identified, was cited and transported to an area hospital for treatment to his wounds, and a mental health evaluation.
