Man facing drunk driving charge in connection with Southeast Portland Crash

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A man is facing a drunk driving charge in connection with an early Sunday morning crash in Southeast Portland.

The two car crash happened around 2:40 a.m. at Southeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Clay Street.

Officers and medical teams arrived and treated the drivers from both cars.

Police said Carlos Angulo, 55, and Zachary Smith, 37, both needed to be hospitalized.

According to police, Smith's injuries were more substantial than Angulo's but both were expected to recover.

Investigating officers say Angulo was drunk at the time of the crash.

They booked him into the Mutnomah County Jail once he was released from the hospital.

Angulo is facing charges of assault, DUII and reckless driving.

He was due in court on Monday.
