PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Portland police performed an extensive search of a section of downtown Portland, including parts of the Portland State University campus, after a bank robbery at a U.S. Bank branch.

A man robbed the bank at 410 SW Harrison St. at 1:30 p.m. He handed a demand note to a teller and then fled the area on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

He headed toward the PSU campus, but officers weren't able to track him down.

He's described as white, in his late 30s and 5'8" tall with a slim build and brown or black hair that was parted on one side. He wore glasses, had slight facial hair growth and wore a dark-colored sports coat over a white shirt during the robbery. He also wore dark-colored pants.

Police hope surveillance photos will lead to tips regarding the man's identity.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Brett Hawkinson at 503-823-1080.
