Police: Woman accused of assaulting disabled person at Goodwill
JOHNS ISLAND, SC (WCSC) -
Authorities have arrested a 31-year-old woman accused of assaulting a disabled person at a Goodwill on Johns Island.
On the afternoon of Aug. 13, officers with the Charleston Police Department spoke to a Department of Social Services case worker who said that a 44-year-old disabled woman was assaulted by 31-year-old Quanteshia Pasley, a woman who was supposed to be watching her at the Goodwill.
Officials say both Pasley and the victim were at the Goodwill as part of a work training program.
The DSS worker said on the morning of Aug. 9, her office received an anonymous tip that the victim and Pasley had been involved in an altercation while at the Goodwill on 1758 Main Rd.
Authorities say the DSS worker interviewed the victim, who was only able to give limited information due to her disability. A police report states the victim told the DSS worker,"she pushed me."
According to police, the DSS worker said she noticed bruising to both of the victim's arms and her buttocks. Authorities say on Aug. 12, the DSS worker reviewed Goodwill's surveillance tape and saw Pasley, the victim and other disabled people having lunch at the Goodwill break room.
According to the DSS worker, following a verbal altercation involving the victim and Pasley, Pasley choked the victim, pushed her into a door, then pushed her into a clothes rack to the point she fell down.
The DSS workers said the surveillance tape which showed the incident was turned over to a police investigator.
