Coast Guard investigating oil slick on the Willamette River

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The Coast Guard is investigating after Air 12 reported an oil slick on the Willamette River Friday.

Officials say it's no longer a threat to the river, or the environment. Crews contained the sheen with booms and absorbent materials.

The Coast Guard says the oil came from a nearby storm drain when a catch basin overflowed. The agency is still trying to figure out how the oil got in the drainage system in the first place.
