The Jamaica National Soccer Team, known as The Reggae Boyz, will have three Portland Timbers players in the roster when it plays two crucial World Cup Qualifying matches.
Forward Ryan Johnson, defender Alvas Powell and goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts were all picked by new head coach Winfried Schafer for the Sept. 6 match against Panama and Sept. 10 match against Costa Rica.
All three players will miss the Portland Timbers match against Toronto FC on Saturday as a result of their participation in their national team matches.
After six matches, Jamaica is in last place in the region in the World Cup Qualifying standings. Though they may be a long shot to qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, wins against Panama and Costa Rica would put them back in contention.
