Caught on camera: Burglars steal safe, shotgun from business

Posted: Updated:

A pair of burglars stole a safe, a shotgun and several model cars from a Gresham paving business.

Surveillance video shows the two men carrying the items out of Bellamy and Son Paving on SE 1st Street early last Tuesday morning. The two load the items into the trunk of a dark-colored sedan and drive off with the safe poking out of the open trunk.

"It's getting a little easier, but when I first watched it, it hurt," said Dan Bellamy, the owner, about watching the surveillance footage.

Surveillance footage shows one of the burglars attempting to stop the surveillance system by breaking a window and taking one of the cameras down around 3:33 a.m.

Instead, the cameras recorded the man, wearing a wig and a hat, wandering around the front office with a flashlight. At one point, the man appears to be locked in the front office.

Bellamy believes the burglar climbed out a window, then broke the front door to get back inside.

The burglar returned with a second man around 5:24 a.m. to carry the safe, shotgun, engine analyzer and model cars out of the business.

If you have any information that can help the investigation, call Gresham police.
