Teen sentenced in arson, attempted murder case

Posted: Updated:
A Hillsboro teen who set his house on fire with his parents inside will spend a decade behind bars.

A judge sentenced Dakota Eldridge Tuesday for arson and attempted aggravated murder.

In April, the 15-year-old torched his home on Southeast 63rd.

Authorities said he used an accelerant inside a bedroom near the door.

His parents were asleep inside the room and woke up when a smoke alarm went off.

They escaped through a window.

Eldridge was sentenced to confinement with the Oregon Youth Authority until he's 25 years old.
