Good morning, happy Thursday! Get ready for a wild next couple of days.
This morning will be very mild with scattered showers around. A cold front will move through this morning, dropping temperatures through the afternoon. By 5 p.m. look for temperatures in the upper 40s. Rain showers will remain scattered for the afternoon and early evening hours.
After midnight, rain will begin to mix with sleet and snow. Snow showers will take hold of the Tri-State Friday afternoon and accumulation will be likely through the evening. The snow will taper off late Friday night.
The heaviest snow should be along the I-71 corridor with 4" to 6" falling and some melting as it lands. To the southeast snow totals will be lighter because of rain and sleet mixing in for a longer period of time. To the north of the I-71 corridor lighter totals will also be found. The band of heaviest snow may shift north or south a little so stay in touch as we tweak the forecast.
SUNDAY: Look for freezing rain Sunday morning and a situation where icing is a good bet. We will have to watch the system develop but there is the potential for significant icing early Sunday before the precipitation changes to rain.
