HILLSBORO, OR (KPTV) -
Police in Hillsboro believe the glare from the sun may be partly responsible for a crash that killed a man over the weekend.
The crash happened just before 6 p.m. Sunday near the Four Seasons Bowling Center on Washington Street and Third Avenue. Officers say the driver of a pickup turned into the parking lot and had the sun hit his eyes. That's when he struck a 55-year-old man walking in the parking lot.
Police say he was only going about 7 mph when the collision happened, but the car knocked the man onto the pavement where he hit his head. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released.
Police do not believe alcohol or drugs were a factor. So far, the driver is not facing any charges.
