BEAVERTON, OR (KPTV) -

Police are investigating a crash outside a Beaverton store that sent two people to the hospital.

Emergency crews were called to the New Seasons Market at 3495 Cedar Hills Blvd., at 2:23 p.m. Monday.

Police said Steven Brown, 64, was driving his black Chevrolet HHR through the parking lot with a plastic walking cast on his leg. The cast got stuck on the accelerator and the car hit two trees, two parked cars and then two people, according to investigators.

"He's sick about it, just sick," said Brown's brother-in-law Steve Mills.

"He's such a careful driver,  he's always belly-aching at me about driving to fast.  He went through the whole thing with me, he's jut really rattled."

A 64-year-old man sustained minor injuries, and a 34-year-old man suffered serious injuries. While serious, those injuries are not considered life-threatening, police said. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Brown has not yet been charged with a crime, but Beaverton police said the case is being forwarded for review.

Investigators say there are no specific laws that regulate driving with a cast, unless a doctor has advised against it.

Police say they are looking into that, because it's possible if a doctor told Brown not to drive, he could face reckless driving charges.
