MOLALLA, OR (KPTV) -

A search and rescue operation is underway for a missing mushroom picker in the Molalla area.

Family members said Boris Bondarchuk, 53, has been missing since Monday afternoon, when he went looking for mushrooms near South Family Camp Road. That's south of Molalla and east of Silverton.

Clackamas County deputies said it's a "very rugged area" comprised of dense wooded cover, steep mountain terrain and rivers that are making the search and rescue mission difficult.

Sgt. Steve Dangler with the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office said up to 80 people from six agencies were involved in the search operation Wednesday morning.

Family members said Bondarchuk was wearing black pants with stripes on the side, black boots, a black leather jacket and possibly a cap. He's about 6' tall and weighs 190 pounds.

There is no cell phone service in the area.

Anyone with information on Bondarchuk's whereabouts is asked to call 503-723-4949.
