CLARK COUNTY, WA (KPTV) -

A tree fell across Interstate 5 in southwest Washington Wednesday, just in time for the evening commute.

Crews responded to the scene at around 4:10 p.m. The tree fell across the northbound lanes near Milepost 11 and the Gee Creek Rest Area.

There have not been any reports of injuries or damage to cars.

The Washington Department of Transportation said the tree was removed from the road by 4:50 p.m. However, highway cameras showed a long backup of cars and trucks in the northbound lanes.

By 5:30, things appeared to be moving along smoothly.

It's not yet clear what caused the tree to fall. There were no immediate reports of severe weather in the area.
