PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A serious motorcycle crash closed the northbound lanes of Interstate 205 on Thursday morning.

The motorcycle rider was clocked at more than 130 mph by a state trooper before he slammed into the back of a Lexus along I-205 at Stark Street around 2 a.m. The crash was so severe it knocked the rider's boots off.

Motorcyclist Toby Olsen, 52, suffered life-threatening injuries and is in critical condition at a Portland hospital.

The Lexus driver, 78-year-old Amelia Alvarez, wasn't hurt. Her SUV did sustain significant damage in the crash.

Investigators said speed and alcohol were both factors in the wreck. The trooper first spotted Olsen on I-205 near Powell Boulevard, but didn't pursue the motorcycle. Instead, he watched and broadcast information over radio when he saw the motorcycle crash under the Stark Street overpass.

All lanes of I-205 were closed to allow for an investigation, but they reopened around 4 a.m.
