Deputies searching Cornelius for burglary suspect

CORNELIUS, OR (KPTV) -

Washington County deputies say a home invasion caused school lockdowns in Cornelius on Friday.

Deputies said a man returned to his home on Jasper Circle and found an intruder inside the house.

The victim told police the burglar was carrying away a rifle from his home and pointed a handgun at him.

Deputies said the intruder ran away, hopped the back fence and went into another house on South Ivy Court. That led to lockdowns at Echo Shaw Elementary and Emmaus Christian.

The Ivy Court home was searched with a K-9 team and a remotely operated robot with a mounted camera. The suspect was not found.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 30s, average height with a scruffy beard. If you know anything about this case, you're asked to contact Cornelius police at 503-359-1881 or the non-emergency dispatch number at 503-629-0111.
