CORVALLIS, OR (KPTV) -

A 16-year-old boy is accused of making an online threat against the Oregon State University campus.

Before noon Thursday, Oregon State Police became aware of an unconfirmed threat directed at the college on an Internet blog site.

As a precaution, a warning message and emergency alert was sent to the OSU community and students. It stated that police presence would be increased for an indefinite period.

On Friday, a 16-year-old was taken into police custody on the charge of disorderly conduct. Police are not releasing the name or address. Investigators said he lives in Oregon, but not in the Corvallis area.

The initial investigation indicated the online threat originated outside the Pacific Northwest, but further information led the focus back to Oregon.

The nature of the threat has also not been revealed. Police said there is no known further potential threat against OSU.

The campus remained open Thursday and Friday, with increased law enforcement presence.
