PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Police say a 15-year-old was shot during a gang-related shooting overnight though the juvenile himself is not involved with gangs.

The shooting occurred at about 2:15 a.m. at the Ascot Acres Apartments, in the 13800 block of Southeast Stark Street.

Portland Police spokesman said multiple people called 911 when shots rang out.

When officers arrived they found the male teenager inside of a ground-level apartment, suffering from a single gunshot wound.  It did not appear to be life-threatening.

The boy was taken to a Portland hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile investigators learned that the people in the upstairs apartment were known to be associated with gang members.  Police believe the teenager was an unintended target in the shooting.

No arrests have been made, and there was no information being made available about the suspects.

The Gang Enforcement Team responded to continue the investigation.
