A weekend search was unsuccessful in finding a 32-year-old missing kayaker who is presumed to have drowned Saturday on the Lewis River.
Thad Roberts, from Kelso, went salmon fishing with several friends Saturday on the Lewis River near Cedar Creek ramp on Etna Road.
Roberts became separated from his friends, who first noticed him missing at about dusk.
When his fellow kayakers weren't able to find him, they called 911 about 10 p.m.
Sheriff's deputies performed an on-the-water and shoreline search for Roberts until the early morning hours, but they didn't find him.
They did recover Roberts' kayak and a life jacket that was on board. Roberts was not wearing it at the time he disappeared.
He was wearing a dark wool jacket, camouflage rain pants and a brown hat when he went missing.
Deputies said additional search efforts are pending.
