Thirteen sheep were killed in a crash that ignited a car fire in Umatilla County.

Oregon State Police said it happened at 8 p.m. Monday on Interstate 84 near the town of Meacham.

Robert Anderson, 51, of West Richland, WA, was driving his 1998 Toyota Camry westbound when the car collided with a herd of sheep in the middle of the road.

The car came to rest on the side of the freeway and caught fire. Troopers said the car was destroyed.

The 13 sheep that were killed belonged to a rancher in the area.

Troopers did not report any injuries to the driver.
