Man takes cops on car chase through Vancouver

Posted: Updated:

Police arrested a man and were questioning three other people after a car chase in Vancouver Sunday evening.

A police officer spotted a red Honda Civic near the intersection of Fourth Plain Boulevard and Andressen. The chase ended in a residential neighborhood near the intersection of Northeast 147th and 76th streets.

Officers arrested the driver, 23-year-old Edniel Hanif, on charges of operating a stolen vehicle and eluding police. He may also face an additional charge of vehicular assault for allegedly trying to ram a police car.

Police said there were three passengers, two men and a woman, in the car with Hanif. The passengers tried to get him to pull over, and one of the other men even jumped out of the moving car.

"I see the cops had this car stopped and they had guns on him," said neighbor Bill Dubay. "The next thing I know, a young lady came out with her hands up."

Officers said they found illegal drugs in the car during a search. They are now trying to determine to whom the drugs belonged.
