Reynolds High School administrators locked the doors to their school during a homecoming dance Friday night.
Reports of an armed person in the neighborhood forced the safety measure.
There were 900 students at the school at the time of the lock-in, and school officials said they were in a safe place during the search for a possible suspect.
The lock-in was lifted within an hour and school administrators gave the all clear. They decided to cancel the homecoming dance.
Emergency dispatchers said police did not find anyone matching the description of the supposedly armed man. No arrests were made.
Reynolds High School is located in the Gresham-Troutdale area.
