PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A $1,000 reward is being offered as police continue to search for a man accused of attacking a taxi driver, stealing his cab and dumping it in Vancouver last June.

Police said 42-year-old Ronald Heasley ran up to the cab on the night of June 4 as it was on the Morrison Bridge.

The cab driver stopped, Heasley jumped into the passenger seat of the taxi and began assaulting the driver, police said.

The taxi driver got out of the car, which then allowed Heasley to get behind the wheel to drive away, according to police.

Three passengers in the taxi at the time managed to get out of the car safely before Heasley drove off, according to police.

The stolen taxi was recovered a few hours later in Vancouver, and police have since identified Heasley as the suspect in the attack.

He's described as white, 5'4" and 170 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. He's believed to be in the Portland-Vancouver area.

Anyone with information is asked to call 503-823-4357.
