Police: Vancouver woman hits intruder on head with dumbbell

Posted: Updated:

A man broke into a Vancouver woman's home and ended up getting whacked on the head with a dumbbell.

Vancouver police said it happened Tuesday afternoon on Northeast 152nd Avenue.

The 48-year-old woman told police she heard her garage door opening and assumed it was someone she knew. However, an unknown man then walked into her living room from the garage.

Police said the man, believed to be in his 20s, grabbed the woman's legs and made sexual comments toward her.

That's when the woman said she managed to grab a dumbbell and used it to hit the intruder on his head.

The man then ran off the same way he came in. A K-9 team searched the neighborhood, but the suspect was not found.

The woman was very shaken up, police said, but she was not injured.
