STAYTON, OR (KPTV) -

A high-speed police chase ended when a wanted man flipped a stolen car upside down after driving 110 mph.

Senior Deputy Kevin Ely was patrolling Stayton Road in Marion County at 8 a.m. Friday when he passed a 1995 Honda Accord that he recognized as stolen the previous night in Salem.

The deputy turned around and followed the car. However, prior to turning on his overhead lights, the deputy said the car began driving erratically through the city of Stayton and into Linn County.

Once the deputy activated his emergency lights, he said the other driver hit speeds of 110 mph. Once the Accord reached winding country roads still traveling at dangerously high speeds, the deputy backed off his pursuit.

After losing sight of the car, the deputy came around a corner and found it again.

"But this time it was on its top and stopped in the middle of the road," according to the Marion County Sheriff's Office.

The driver, Bradley Bender, 28, had flipped the car and was trapped inside. Deputy Ely rescued him and then arrested him. Bender was not hurt in the crash.

Deputies said he was in possession of a methamphetamine pipe. Investigators also learned he was wanted on outstanding warrants in Marion and Linn County for a long list of charges including burglary, aggravated theft, felon in possession of a firearm, criminal mischief, operating a vehicle without a license and possession of meth.

Stemming from Friday's arrest, he is also now charged with unlawful entry, use and possession of a motor vehicle, attempt to elude, reckless driving and possession of meth.

He was booked in jail with bail set at $143,500.

The car was a total loss.
