Toddler upgraded to fair condition after ATV crash

Posted: Updated:

Police say a 3-year-old boy who was riding with his mother on an all-terrain vehicle was taken by a Life Flight helicopter to OHSU on Saturday afternoon.

The accident happened on private property in Colton. Authorities say the ATV flipped over and rolled on top of the boy.

The boy's mother took him to an urgent care facility in Molalla.

Police say the boy was alert and crying, but because he was bleeding from the mouth, doctors decided he needed immediate transport to a trauma center as a precaution.

The Life Flight helicopter landed in a zone adjacent to the urgent care facility. The boy was then flown to OHSU, where he was initially listed in serious condition.

On Sunday afternoon hospital officials said his condition was upgraded to "fair."

The incident was considered accidental.

No charges have been filed in the case.
