Wild horses were shot and killed in Crook County, and investigators are trying to track down who did it.
Law enforcement officers with the U.S. Forest Service responded to the area of Forest Service Road 22 near the 500 spur north of Big Summit Prairie on Oct. 13. Three horses were found shot and killed.
Investigators said it appeared they had been shot several days earlier.
On Oct. 18, Crook County deputies assisted officers from the Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management with the investigation. An additional three wild horses were found shot and killed within a quarter-mile from where the first three horses were located.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the U.S. Forest Service at 541-383-5798 or the Crook County Sheriff's Office at 541-447-6398.
