Can you spare a fork? Nonprofit group requests silverware

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Can you spare a fork? If so, a local organization can use it.

Community Warehouse, a nonprofit furniture bank that provides people in the Portland metro area with basic household items, ran out of forks earlier this week.

"We always see a huge increase in requests with the start of the school year," said Tom Elson, Program manager.

With cold weather on the horizon, the organization's goal is to help get people settled before the holidays.

"We want the community to know how much we could use their help," Elson said. "A quick look through your cupboards or linen closet could really make the difference for us, and for these people."

Forks, along with other kitchen items, linens and furniture, can be dropped off at two local donations sites. One is in Portland at 3969 N.E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., the other is at 8380 S.W. Nyberg St., Tualatin.
