AURORA, OR (KPTV) -

A man was killed on Interstate 5 on Monday when police said a semi hit his car from behind.

The crash happened at 5 p.m. in the southbound lanes near the Donald/Aurora interchange.

Investigators said a 1991 Acura Integra driven by Dustin Campbell, 26, of Lyons, was in the far right lane when it was hit by a commercial truck pulling a trailer.

Police said traffic was slowing down and the truck, driven by Gurpinder Singh, 27, of Red Bluff, CA, rode over the top of the Acura, which then rear-ended another semitrailer in front of it.

The Acura was crushed and pinned underneath Singh's truck. Campbell was pronounced dead at the scene.

The three southbound lanes were blocked for four hours, while traffic used the inside shoulder to pass the crash scene.

The investigation is continuing and no law enforcement action has been taken yet in this case. Oregon State Police are asking any witnesses who have not yet provided a statement to investigators to call 800-452-7888.
