Police identify woman hit by MAX train in Goose Hollow area

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A woman was hit by a MAX train near downtown Portland Tuesday night.

Emergency crews were called to the scene at Southwest 18th Avenue and Jefferson Street at 6:50 p.m.

Portland police said a woman was hit by an eastbound MAX train. Officers located the victim, who was suffering from life-threatening injuries.

She was identified Wednesday as Erin Pierce, 33. She remained in the hospital Wednesday with injuries described as traumatic.

TriMet reported the woman was in a restricted right-of-way area and it's not clear why she was there. No other details about what led to the crash have been released.

MAX trains in both directions were shut down in the area during the investigation.

Transit police and TriMet are investigating the crash.
