PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The Portland-area community continues to pitch in to help the family of Oregon City Officer Robert Libke, who was shot and killed at a burning home last weekend.

On Friday, The Cruise In Diner in Northeast Portland plans to donate half of all sales to Libke's family.

"If I can use my business as an avenue for just average people to come together, have a coffee, have breakfast, come have lunch and be able to do something to give to his family, it's just a good feeling for everybody," said Jaime Grant, who owns The Cruise In.

The Cruise In Diner is located at 7731 NE 33rd Dr. in Portland, and it's open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Libke was the first Oregon City police officer shot in the line of duty in more than 100 years.

His family released a statement Wednesday:

"Our family would like to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the unbelievable acts of kindness and sacrifice by Rob's fellow officers, our friends and many people who we may never meet in person to thank. The community, Oregon City Police Department and their families and many other departments are unselfishly giving their time and placing their lives on hold to help us get through this horrible time.

"Rob loved putting on the uniform and helping the police department serve their community. He will always be remembered in our hearts and minds as a dedicated husband and beautiful family man. We will miss him deeply.

"The family continues to ask for privacy during this difficult period."
