Southampton man dies after colliding with bear on motorcycle

WESTFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

There are new details on a motorcycle accident in Westfield.

A Southampton man has died from injuries after colliding with a bear Wednesday morning.

Police tell CBS 3 Edward Neid, 63, was traveling down Southampton Road around 8 a.m. when the black bear ran into the motorcycle, striking it broadside, sending Neid tumbling to the ground.

He died Thursday at Baystate Medical Center

The bear ran back into the woods and disappeared.
