PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Oregon City will pause this Thursday to honor Officer Robert Libke, and on Tuesday night an entire stadium went silent to recognize the man who died in the line of duty.

Under the bright lights and big crowd at the Moda Center, Libke's Reserve Unit honored his life on the ice with the ceremonial puck drop at the Portland Winterhawks game.

Afterward, there was a moment of silence for Libke followed by the national anthem.

"It's emotional," said Winterhawks fan Sandy McGinnis. "I just hope his family knows, and his friends know, that we appreciate what he did."

As Libke's fellow officers left, they received a standing ovation.

"I hope they see the value in the fact that people respect the police department, and they take solace in that we are remembering his life," said Winterhawks fan Jay Bankhead.

And in the heart of Oregon City, local businesses are preparing for Thursday's procession across the town.

"We're a part of a small town local community," said the owner of Maizee Mae's Antiques in Oregon City. "We're planning to close our store and stand on the sidewalks waving American flags to show our support Thursday."

"My employees plan to be a part of the procession," said Nebbiolo Wine Bar & Market owner Joe Kirwin. "It's hardly any consolation, but we hope it can ease the family's pain knowing that there are people here who care."

The motorcade procession is scheduled to begin Thursday, Nov. 14, at 10:45 a.m.

The public will not be allowed to participate in the procession but is encouraged to view the procession from vantage points along the route.

The procession route is expected to include hundreds of public-safety vehicles.

The route begins through Oregon City, north on South Molalla Avenue, then left on Seventh Street westbound to Washington Street.

It then heads northbound on Washington Street to 14th Street, and another left on 14th Street to Southeast McLoughlin Boulevard (Highway 99E).

The motorcade will then hop onto Interstate 205 and merge onto Interstate 84.

Approaching Interstate 5, they will exit toward Convention Center/Moda Center merging onto Northeast First Avenue, then turn left onto Northeast Multnomah Street, then turn right onto North Interstate Avenue, then turn right onto North Larrabee Avenue, then turn right onto North Winning Way to access parking structures.

Members of the public who wish to view the procession from along the route may want to be in position by 10 a.m.
