EUGENE, OR (AP) -

A former Oregon Ducks football player could end up in the middle of a criminal trial after refusing to submit to a drug treatment program.

Colt Lyerla, a former tight end, is accused of the use and possession of cocaine. Lyerla rejected the treatment offer in a Eugene courtroom Wednesday, which means more time in the courtroom.

This comes after the judge presiding over his case denied Lyerla's request for a two week extension to go over new information in the case.  His next hearing is set for Dec. 5.

Lyerla left the University of Oregon football team earlier this year for personal reasons. He was an honorable mention all-conference selection last year.
