Volunteers serving up food at previous Thanksgiving
PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
The Union Gospel Mission is asking for donations of turkeys to feed the homeless and families in need this Thanksgiving.
Last Thanksgiving, the organization provided 1,225 meals under a 120-foot tent donated by Northwest Natural Gas in downtown Portland. The Union Gospel Mission also provided Thanksgiving food boxes to more than 300 people and families in need last year.
This year, that number is expected to reach nearly 400 food boxes and there is a waiting list for families.
Donations of coffee and canned fruit cocktail are also needed at this time.
You can drop off donations at 3 N.W. Third Ave. in Portland. For more information, call 503-274-4483 or go to www.ugmportland.org.
